Privacy Policy
Vaelor is a proactive companion app for Tesla vehicles. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. Short version: we collect only what the product needs to work, we don't sell your data, and you can delete everything, in the app, at any time.
What we collect
- Account: your email address and a hashed password (managed by Supabase Auth).
- Vehicle data (with your authorization via Tesla's official Fleet API): vehicle identity (VIN, name, model), state of charge, cabin/outside temperature, charging state, location and drive telemetry while the vehicle is in use.
- Derived data: places you park frequently (e.g., home, work), typical departure times and dwell patterns — computed to power proactive pre-conditioning and smart charging.
- Decision log: a record of what Vaelor did (or would have done) and why — the time, the reason, and the cabin/outside temperatures involved. It exists so you can check the app's work; it is shown to you in the Report screen.
- Voice commands: if you use the Siri shortcuts, the text of the command is sent to our backend and to OpenAI to interpret it and turn it into a vehicle action.
- Preferences & app settings: target cabin temperature, automation toggles, electricity rates you enter, notification settings.
- Purchases: subscription status via RevenueCat/Apple. We never see your payment details.
What we use it for
- Pre-conditioning your cabin before predicted departures and arrivals.
- Aligning charging with cheaper electricity windows and your departure time.
- Showing you trips, places, battery health and efficiency insights.
- Sending you the notifications you enabled (departure/arrival/hot-cabin alerts).
What we do NOT do
- We do not sell or rent your personal data. Ever.
- We do not use your data for third-party advertising.
- We do not access your Tesla account credentials — authorization happens on Tesla's own sign-in page (OAuth) and can be revoked by you at any time.
Service providers
We rely on a small set of processors to run the service: Tesla Fleet API (vehicle access), Supabase (database & authentication), Microsoft Azure (backend hosting), DigitalOcean (the streaming server that receives your vehicle's live telemetry), RevenueCat & Apple (subscriptions), Expo (push notifications), Mapbox (maps & geocoding), OpenAI (interpreting voice commands and naming the places you park) and Open-Meteo (weather). Each receives only what's needed for its function.
OpenAI is not permitted to train on this data. We send it the minimum required: the text of a voice command, or a set of coordinates and nearby place names when working out what to call a stop. We never send your email, your account identifier or your vehicle's VIN.
Retention & deletion
Your data is kept while your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time in the app: Profile → Delete Account. Deletion is immediate and irreversible. You can additionally revoke Vaelor's vehicle access from your Tesla account.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit (TLS). Tesla tokens are stored server-side and never leave our backend; your session on the device lives in the iOS Keychain. Access to production systems is restricted and audited.
Children
Vaelor is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we make material changes, we'll update this page and note the new effective date.
